If you are new to herding, have handling challenges and a loose-eyed herding breed; you would be doing yourself and your dog a great favor by training with Robin. This was the case for my Belgian Sheepdog and I. With Robin, we’ve been able to repair the years of damage that poor training did to my dog and at the same time we’re building a new foundation that is enabling my dog to make regular and reliable progress. Robin’s guidance has miraculously improved my handling. Her patient and logical training methods give my dog the opportunity to learn how to make sensible decisions in managing livestock. Instead of a confused and frustrated opponent, I am seeing my dog bloom into a confident, capable and willing partner. We couldn’t be happier. If you are at an advanced level, Robin’s accomplishments and reputation in the international world of professional herding training and trialing say it all. Why would you go anywhere else?

I am so thankful to have found Robin as an instructor. She is an excellent teacher. She gives undivided attention to me and my dog Molly, and she is able to convey her knowledge in a patient and effective manner. Molly and I both have made incredible progress since starting to train with her. I was looking for a trainer who would take a personal interest in us, support and advise us during trials, celebrate the wins, and learn from the losses. I have found all of that, and more with Robin. She is wonderful!

Robin is a rare combination of gifted natural talent, combined with years of experience reading dogs AND sheep, that results in exquisite timing and communication with any dog that she is training. She is a true competitor and strives to bring out the absolute best in every student and dog that she works with, as well. This is because she genuinely cares. Robin is extremely generous and giving with her time and expertise and I always look forward to her sense of humor!

When I started looking for a herding trainer for our little Aussie it was important for me to find someone who could read her personality and push her just enough not to shut her down. I was also looking for someone that had a lot of patience because I had no experience in herding. Robin was able to meet all of my expectations and more. She was able to read Shelby and explain to me what I needed to do in terms I could understand. I come away from each lesson feeling more confident. I would highly recommend and have recommended Robin to anyone that would like to build a relationship with their dog.
Not only has Robin helped me in herding, but she bred my special boy for me. "On the Lamb Joe", (Little Joe) is my first smooth coat Border Collie in my household. He's a very special guy. I'm working him in Obedience (which I'm sure he will become my next major competition dog in), he's flying around the agility field, running down the flyball lanes, and Robin says he will become a GREAT herding dog. But even if he does not, he has already won my heart.
Robin has a great ability to read dogs and know when and what to do. She really explains things in way that it is easy to understand what she is trying convey. I would and do highly recommend her as a teacher.

Completely frustrated with my overly enthusiastic Aussie "Quazar" I arrived at my first lesson. Robin instantly addressed the challenges I would have in training Quazar with crystal clear insight, and without making me feel stupid! Quazar is a real pistol, but worked beautifully for Robin right away. Robin has a special gift with dogs... and a lot of patience with humans, LOL! All I can say is that beyond Robin's champion dogs and high achievements in herding lies an amazing teacher.

Robin's credentials speak for themselves. As a teacher, she is patient, informative, adaptable, and, most valuably, honest in her appraisals and constructive criticism. If you are looking for someone to hand-hold you and tell you you're doing super work all while cashing your check and kissing up to you, don't look here. She tells it like it is in a way that helps you get results. I've worked with several different types of trainers, and Robin is the one who will teach you how to bring out the best in both you and your dog. She loves what she does, and it comes through in how she relates to people and animals. I recommend her highly and have referred many to her.
I see Robin as often as I can, she is not only a good teacher, but a really nice, funny, down to earth person. She is kind to the dogs, likes ALL dogs, ALL breeds, not just herding breeds. She wants you to have fun with your dog, if you compete or not. I enjoy and look forward to my lessons with her, she is positive, encouraging and honest. She really loves teaching, it's obvious. I never feel rushed during my lesson and she never minds going over and over the same information with me, she wants me to understand and get as much out of my time with her as possible.

I love training with Robin. I've tried herding before but never really understood it, so couldn't do much. Robin teaches in a way that my dogs and I understand all aspects of herding which makes it very exciting and easier to advance through each level. I learn something new (or many things) every time I have a lesson. Watching my dogs progress and having the ability to really work stock gives me so much pleasure. I'm in awe of their ability!
In my opinion, what sets Robin apart from other trainers who have achieved great personal success in their chosen sports is that she is also an amazing teacher, as well as a genuinely wonderful person. Robin is gifted with those all-important, yet rare qualities of endless patience, understanding, and a sense of humor. Plus, she can clearly read and communicate with not only her stock and her canine student, but her human student as well!

Although I've gone to several good training clinics with excellent trainers, I believe Robin has a knack for explaining how to train my dogs that I haven't experienced elsewhere. Her advice sticks with me once I'm home, and I can see the results in my dogs and my handling. She also has an eye for the right dog/handler team. I bought Nell from Robin last summer, and she's the perfect dog for me.
In 1997 we adopted an untrained, out of control Australian Cattle Dog. After a year, we knew that she needed something other than a tennis ball, a Frisbee and basic obedience. A friend suggested we try herding, and that's how we met Robin. Three sheep, Robin, a round pen and Misty. That's all it took for a light to go off in the head of a very stubborn dog. Robin is amazing. She has the patience of a Saint and is not a one dimensional trainer. Each dog is handled differently according to it's needs. I have both a Border Collie and the Cattle Dog, and have worked with Robin with both dogs. Lessons are not "one size fits all". The Cattle Dog has to be taught differently than the Border Collie. And Robin understands the needs of each dog and brings out the best in each dog. Whenever my dogs have entered competitions, win or lose, they have always received the highest praise from judges concerning their training and potential. I never mentioned that I am a city girl. Robin has taught me how to read both my dogs and the sheep. Her techniques are concise and understandable, even to a total novice as myself.

Robin has a good eye and is flexible in her instruction. She employs techniques best suited for a particular handler, dog and situation and provides appropriate stock. Because Robin actively competes in herding trials, she is aware of specific skills necessary to be successful in these situations. It is, however, her philosophy to train the dog to herd stock first and to use those skills in a trial rather than to teach the course.

Over the years I've taken lessons from a number of herding instructors but never felt I made much progress until I started taking lessons from Robin. Robin's manner of teaching is one on one and at the pace of you and your dog. A keen observer, Robin will teach you to better read your dog and your sheep. You'll make strides forward just when you thought of throwing in the towel, loading the dog and heading for home! Herding is fun and learning is exciting when you have an instructor who wants to teach as much as you want to learn. So, contact Robin for lessons, pack your lunch, load that dog and enjoy!
